Hands On Massage

Massage has many different forms.  The different types of massage that our facility provides are:

Kneading- The main target of kneading is the skeletal muscles, but the skin and connective tissue structures are affected as well. During kneading, the practitioner grasps the muscles and soft tissues, lifts, rolls, stretches and compresses them between the hands and against bone structures.

Tapotment- A type of massage in which the body is tapped in a rhythmic manner with the tips of the fingers or the sides of the hands, using short, rapid, repetitive movements.

Cupping- An ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin which create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.  Olympic multigold medalist, Michael Phelps is also known for regularly having cupping treatments.

Trigger Point Therapy- A trigger point is a tight area within the muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. The therapist reduces the trigger point which in turn reduces pain and helps increase motion.

Deep tissue massage, neuro-massage, massage for athletes pre and post workout are just some of the different types of massage that our patients receive.

Effects of massage therapy: Relaxation, tissue healing, increase in circulation, pain relief, muscle spasm relief, increase in mobility, sedation, removal of metabolic toxins.
